ABOUT
Throughout my life, my passion for music and drums has been a driving force. Despite growing up in a financially challenged environment, I refused to let that deter me. As a young child, unable to afford drums, I ingeniously assembled a makeshift band with my family using buckets, pots, pans, and other unconventional instruments. This ignited my love for music and set me on a path of creativity and determination.
Middle school introduced me to the world of band, but I was assigned to play the trumpet and the French horn, instruments that didn't align with my true passion. However, the opportunity to play the drums finally presented itself during my high school years. It was a transformative moment that allowed me to fully immerse myself in my lifelong dream.
After high school, I joined the military, where my dedication to music persisted. In the midst of my military service, I took the initiative to form a band named "Grace." This decision propelled me to new heights as a drummer, leading to multiple accolades and awards in Europe for two consecutive years, thanks to our participation in the Battle of the Band (Military) competition in Germany.
Upon returning to the United States, my musical journey took another meaningful turn. I was given the chance to play the percussion instruments in the creative arts ministry at Right Direction Church International. This was a remarkable opportunity for me, as I had never played percussion before. It opened doors to a world of diverse music, grooves, and rhythms that I had always longed to explore as part of a band.
Motivated by my passion for music and an unwavering commitment to remain irreplaceable, I took it upon myself to build a tracking studio. This personal sanctuary allowed me to practice relentlessly, striving to perfect my craft. Over time, I recorded more than thirty-five grooves, rhythms, and songs using live instruments, including percussions, a horn section, and vocals. These recordings became the foundation of my numerous CD projects, representing the fruits of my labor and the blessings I've received.
Titled "I Hear Music Everywhere," my third CD project perfectly encapsulates my lifelong fascination with music. It has been a constant source of stability, influencing my mood and shaping my lifestyle. Whether I'm performing at my cherished church, where I've dedicated over two decades, or collaborating with exceptionally talented musicians, or simply enjoying life's moments with my wife of 38 years, music remains an integral part of my being.
From my humble beginnings, finding solace in music with family and school bands, to my military triumphs and ongoing collaborations with local and international artists, my musical journey has been a testament to growth and perseverance. The recent Grammy nomination for the song "Keep Holding On" with Hank Bilal further validates my dedication.
I take great pride in my expanding musicianship and artistic growth. In addition to playing, I have ventured into music production, assuming control over the entire creative process. The genre I associate myself with is Smooth Jazz with a unique twist. I am immensely grateful for the unwavering support of my fans and supporters, whose enthusiasm fuels my passion.
Now, with anticipation and excitement, I present my latest project, "All That Jazz." This release encapsulates over 45 years of playing and developing music, showcasing the depth of my artistry and the profound impact music has had on my life. I invite you to join me on this musical journey and witness the growth and dedication that have shaped my legacy.
